Tom’s Blog

When Second Life was not yet present in the (German) media at the beginning of 2007, I came across this virtual world through research for my podcast at the time. I was fascinated by the possibilities right from the start. Creating, meeting interesting people and traveling to wonderful places. I was drawn to the clubbing scene early on. Great clubs that offered a unique experience. A few years ago, I opened my first club, which I called “Tom’s Cozy Harbour Pub”. After a few detours and detour, I have now built up my small club the „TTLF – Trip The Light Fantastic„on Durdane. It was always important to me that the club had ambience and a certain style. Everything just not standard. When I found my perfect match in Lizzy, I started to spend more time in the international arena again and traveled to many exhibitions and places with her.

The „real“ Tom

In real life I am a media designer and web developer, so I have a lot to do with graphics and programming. Second Life therefore offered me many opportunities to try things out. Many of the logos, posters and this website for FA&M were designed by me and I have also been able to create my first PBR textures. My knowledge of Blender and Adobe Substance was extremely helpful. In real life I like to take nature and landscape photos and edit them with Photoshop, but only to the extent that minor image/exposure errors are corrected. I don’t have much time for complete photo setups, so I concentrate more on photos that don’t need much preparation. This also applies to Second Life pictures. Here, too, I only intervene a little in the pictures and try to paint with the right “light” using the viewer tools.

My passion: Music and beeing creative

My greatest passion, however, is music. Over the last few years, I’ve put together a small sound studio, which I’ve equipped with a few vintage synths. I also have a few master keyboards that I use for my DAW. Unfortunately, I don’t have enough time for that. So it’s DJing that I (re)discovered for myself a few years ago. I’ve been DJing regularly in Second Life since 2020. I have also worked as a presenter for an online radio station. With Lizzy as my partner, we started DJing as a team a year ago. We share a stream without physically sitting next to each other.

My posts will be more about Second Life as a whole. Also with the new features like PBR and Mesh. When I’ve put together a cool outfit, you can look forward to that too. Of course, I’ll also be looking at great places and sharing my work with you!

Single „Children from Planet Earth“

Inspired by one of my Favourite „electronic“ Musicans J.M. Jarre – Recorded in my little Homestudio. Made with Cubase Pro and serveral Sound-Plugins (and some „Retro“ Instruments: Roland Alpha Juno, Kawai K4r) . It was the fist track of my planned Album: „Ad Astra“. The Samples are originals taken from the NASA (Golden Record – Pioneer Mission, Apollo – Mission)
