It’s HIPPIESTOCK again! 2025 starts with a BANG!
For those who dont know, Hippiestock is a Second Life inworld festival and reminds a bit on Woodstock. In 2023 the 12th Festival happend and I was able to join for the first time ! It happend only for a weekend but it was so much fun, filled with an incredible amount of live music artists, so that in 2024 and also this year the whole month of January is dedicated to the Festival!

Hippiestock Festival – History
Hippiestock started in 2011 as a party thrown by Hippie Bowman to connect with the friends he made in the Second Life Forums. The desire to bring these wonderful souls together in the virtual realm and celebrate friendship, peace, and love paved the way for this gathering. Originally known as “A Forum Dwellers Party,” fate intervened when, thankfully, someone playfully coined the name “Hippiestock,” and the rest is history! Due to life changes Hippie decided 2021 would be the last Hippiestock; that was the 11th one.

In 2022, Hippie and Owl missed the event so much that they decided to bring it back in 2023 when Hippie officially passed the reins to Owl Dragonash. Corsica South Coasters and Commune Utopia sponsored the 12th Hippiestock in 2023; we rented a sim and landscaped it idyllically.. It was wonderful!
CK Ballyhoo rebuilt the original Woodstock Festival area in watercolour textures for Hippiestock 2024. The art installation was calling for more than one weekend of live music and Owl and CK decided to make January Hippiestock month with several events during this time.
This year CK was lucky to have yet another go at a watercolour installation. It started out as a winter landscape with turtles. The sim owner who graciously let us take over for a second year, is very fond of turtles. And the installation is in honour of him. And it doubles as Hippiestock for all of January!
Hippiestock Festival – January 2025
January will be Hippiestock month and it stands under the Motto: Turtle time in winter!
The sim is open now for blogger and participants, and has a soft public opening on January 1st. The first event is on the January 2nd with DJ Uli Jansma kicking of the month of events. You can be reminded on the events when joining them on Facebook! And of course LiTo DJ Team will be playing a special set as well. Join us on Thursday, January 16th!

Join the Magic!
Hippiestock Live thrives on peace, love, and the community that makes it all possible. Whether you’re here for the music, art, or connection, there’s something special waiting for you at Hippiestock!
The sim invites for some exploring. There are signposts to help you find your way. There are two big hills, one with a tower, one to use for sledding down. Both provide great views of the landscape. The main area is the big turtle stage and dance floor, where the hippies will be warm inside the particle snow globe, made by April Acorn. (The particle flowers, snow and burst you will find on the sim are also made by April.) There are frozen waters to skate on, an ice-fishing hole for people who like fishing, a cozy cave for the weary skater, lots of little nooks to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
The Barn, with info on past and present Hippiestocks. The art area is next to the barn. And there will be a photo contest again this year (details below).
A stage for Feed A Smile, the charity which will have a concert on the 15th of January. The Peace Grove where there will be meditation with Reiki sessions every Sunday in January. The Drum Circle, which will be held on January 18. Wednesdays are Humpdays – Live with two performances and Thursdays are DJ events.

Side-Note

Have you heard/watched the series Good Omens (with David Tennant and Michael Sheen)? Terry Pratchett wrote that book together with Neil Gaiman. The reason why he’s up there is that he wrote many books about the Discworld, a fantasy world with witches, wizards and all kinds of intriguing creatures and characters. The Disc World was a flat world, carried by elephants on the back of a turtle. This is the statue you see up the hill there. It was made by someone in SL upon Pratchett’s death.
Thanks, Lizzy! What a great write up!!! You rule!
