Okay, lets focus on a serious issue today. October is not only Spooktober and preparing for Halloween, but BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH as well.

Its an international health campaign held every Ocotber, which was started in 1985. Approx. 2.3 Miliion new cases worldwide are reported each year and this campaign is founded to create awareness on early detection, timely diagnosis, and comprehensive breast cancer management.

In Second Life there are several events going on a this time to promote, raise interest and collect donations to support the breast cancer foundations. I would like to introduce two of them to you today.

7th Annual Out Shop Cancer Event: Shopping, Art, and Community Come Together to Fight Breast Cancer

October marks the return of the 7th annual Out Shop Cancer event, a month-long campaign supporting breast cancer research, awareness, and support. Running from October 1 to November 3, 2024, this exciting and impactful event invites everyone to join in the fight against breast cancer by participating in a series of engaging activities designed to raise funds for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the American Cancer Society.

More than 70 stores are taking part in this dynamic shopping and hunting event. Shoppers can explore unique products, hunt for exclusive items, and contribute directly to the cause, with proceeds benefiting breast cancer research and support services.

Out Shop Cancer: A Dream of Pink Hope
October 15 – November 3, 2024
This special portion of the event features a Pop-Up Market offering convenient access to an array of items in support of the cause. Additional activities include an Art Walk, Float and Pumpkin Decorating, and a Gala with Entertainment, creating an immersive and festive atmosphere that celebrates hope and resilience in the fight against breast cancer.

A Cause Close to Our Hearts
All proceeds from the Out Shop Cancer event will directly benefit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the American Cancer Society, organizations dedicated to advancing breast cancer research, education, and offering crucial support to survivors and caregivers.

Join us in this meaningful effort to bring hope to those affected by breast cancer while enjoying the spirit of community, creativity, and giving.

ROCK YOUR RACK – Oct. 4th – 13th

Rock Your Rack is the annual fundraiser started in October of 2012 by Jamee Sandalwood and the team at Models Giving Back. MGB is the grid leader in trusted charity events. We do it all and have for several years now with one person responsible for the entire event. Jamee takes care of everything from Designers, to bloggers, to musicians, to models. This way any confusion is avoided and no one has to wait to check with anyone else before things are getting done. Jamee’s vision leads the event to success year after year with many of the designers coming back with us due to the smooth, efficient way things are run and reported. With 100% transparency, all of our documentation from screenshot totals, to Lindex transactions, to donation receipts account for every penny that was earned and donated all being posted right here for all to see.
